Weekly COVID-19 report 11.03.21
Date Added: 11/03/2021
Weekly figures
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 10 March) decreased to 135. This is a drop of 51 cases from the previous week. The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population has now decreased to 46.
The report also shows over 80,000 adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose, with almost 11,000 in the last 7 days. This is good progress however, the virus is still in our communities and sadly, the report shows that 11 residents have died in the latest reporting week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas also show a similar trend of reducing cases but sadly still reporting deaths.
• Milton Keynes – 184 new cases (68 cases per 100,000) and 11 deaths. 10,222 vaccinated (last 7 days).
• Luton – 233 new cases (109 cases per 100,000) and 13 deaths. 7,037 vaccinated.
• Bedford – 101 new cases (58 cases per 100,000) and 15 deaths. 6,717 vaccinated.
Schools and colleges reopened this week, which is great news for our children, this is the first step of the Roadmap to getting out of lockdown. However, we must remain cautious in our approach so that we do not undo the progress we have made so far, and we urge everyone not to give up on your efforts to keep your families and others safe. Get the vaccine, get tested, and remember that we are all in this together.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, rapid tests are available for anyone leaving their home and are likely to come into contact with other people. The test is free and available to anyone who has no symptoms of COVID-19 and results back within an hour.
