Date Added: 15/09/2022
Roadworks Update: A1 northbound Seddington to Beeston
National Highways had previously advised of planned overnight closures for resurfacing works on the A1 northbound between Seddington and Beeston on Monday 19 September and Tuesday 20 September.
Due to the period of nationial mourning, closures on the motorway network nationally will be postponed for the duration of the extended bank holiday weekend. Therefore, the A1 northbound Seddington to Beeston roadworks will now begin on from 9pm on Tuesday 20 September and are due to be completed by 5am on Thursday 22 September, working between 9pm and 5am, weather conditions permitting.
To carry out the work safely, they will need to close the A1 northbound between Biggleswade North Roundabout and Sandy Roundabout and divert traffic. Traffic will be diverted off the A1 onto Hill Lane, Hitchin Road, Vinegar Hill and the A603 to re-join the A1 at Sandy Roundabout. A map of the diversion can be found below.

Changes Elsewhere
Planned closures of major routes in and out of London will be postponed to reduce congestion as large numbers of people travel to the capital for ceremonial and commemorative events to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
All closures for roadworks on motorways in and out of London will be paused from now until after the State Funeral on Monday 19 September. This includes on motorways such as the M25, M11, M3, M4, and M23.
Additionally, all other closures on the motorway network nationally will be postponed for the duration of the extended bank holiday weekend. Existing roadworks will also be removed where possible, with cones and temporary signals withdrawn from 6am on Friday 16 September and not put back in place until Tuesday 20 September.
