Central Bedfordshire Council: New Chair and Vice Chair of Central Bedfordshire Council announced

On Thursday 25 May, Councillor Gareth Mackey was appointed as Chair of Central Bedfordshire Council. Councillor Sue Bell has been appointed as Vice Chair.
Councillor Gareth Mackey - Chair of Central Bedfordshire CouncilCouncillor Mackey represents Flitwick and has been an Independent Member of the Council since May 2019. Councillor Mackey was first elected to Flitwick Town Council in 2011 and has been the town’s mayor three times.
Since March 2022, Councillor Mackey has also served on the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Panel.
As well as presiding over Full Council meetings Councillor Mackey will represent the Council on civic visits, at ceremonial events, and will raise funds and awareness for his chosen charities. Councillor Mackey said:
"It is my immense privilege and honour to be elected as Chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council. My aim is to reflect the prestige of our Council in all my actions and ensure that all residents can look upon Central Bedfordshire Council with pride. I hope to use my time to meet as many residents and organisations as I can and promote the causes important to all sections of the community."
Councillor Sue Bell - Vice Chair of Central Bedfordshire CouncilCouncillor Sue Bell represents Sandy following the local election held on 4 May. Councillor Bell said:
"I am honoured to be elected as Vice Chair of Central Bedfordshire Council. I congratulate Councillor Mackey on his election as Chair and I am committed to supporting him throughout his term of office."
