Although Sandy Town Council’s roots go back to the Local Government Act of 1894, the Town Council was created in its present form as a parish council after the Local Government Act of 1972. In 1974 it took the name Sandy Town Council. Since 1974 the council has developed with its community and it now provides a range of services for the people of Sandy and Beeston.
Sandy Town Council has been awarded Foundation Level under a nationally recognised scheme which demonstrates that the organisation is managed effectively and that the Council has an elected mandate.
