Central Beds Council: BRIDLEWAY NO 20

You may have noticed that due to Sandy Pavillion works, the nearby Bridleway is subsequently shut.
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle along the length of Bridleway No 20, Sandy, which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 1703 5011 (map point A) in a north easterly direction to OS GR TL 1739 5029 (map point B)
This temporary closure is required for the Sandy Pavilion construction project. The closure is expected to take place until 8 August 2023.
The alternative route for bridleway users while the closure is in operation will be:
From OS GR TL 1739 5029 (map point B) head north on Bridleway No 21 (Sunderland Road) for approx. 280 metres to Bridleway No 22. Continue west south westerly along Bridleway No 22 to its junction with Cottage Road. Head south south easterly along Cottage Road to its junction with Pyms Way (map point E), continue generally south westerly along Pyms Way towards St Neots Road (map point F), continue south south easterly along St Neots Road to Engayne Avenue (map point G) and continue east north easterly along Engayne Avenue towards Medusa Way and then generally northerly on Medusa Way to OS GR 1703 5011 (map point A).

The Order will came into operation on 1 May 2023 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the bridleway have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
