Central Bedfordshire Council services over the bank holiday

Date Added: 25/08/2022

This coming weekend is the August bank holiday. Some of our services are impacted by bank holidays, most are not. Take a look below to see which are affected.

Bank holiday trivia
Did you know that bank holidays and village cricket have an intriguing connection?  Back in 1871 a chap called Sir John Lubbock authored the Bank Holidays Act.  Rumour has it that Sir Lubbock picked the days the holidays would occur on based on when his local village cricket team was playing. Turns out Sir Lubbock didn’t just like cricket, he loved it!

Waste collections will run as normal

Your kerbside waste collection is unaffected by the bank holidays and will continue as normal. You can check when your normal collection day is, and what bin/s you need to put out, by visiting our website.

Tidy tips are open. They may be busy
