Central Beds Council: Winter weather update
Date Added: 07/12/2022
We need to go out gritting
Weather update: Wednesday, 7 December
This morning will see some patchy cloud around to start for most, with just a few brighter spells. Into the afternoon, any cloud should clear to leave plenty of bright spells for all. It's going to be a chilly day.
Tonight will see any last patches of cloud clear at the start of the night, leaving a dry, calm and clear night. Turning very cold under the clear skies.
Road temperatures are expected to drop below zero in places.
That means we'll be a full gritting run at 1pm this afternoon.
Help for rough sleepers during cold weather
No one should be sleeping rough this winter.
Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is activated when the temperature is forecast to drop to zero degrees (or below) for three consecutive nights and it means that temporary night-time shelter is provided for people sleeping rough.
Full details about support available for people sleeping rough is on our website.
