Central Beds Council: Elections & Voter ID

Date Added: 27/01/2023

Elections are just around the corner! Here are some key dates for you:

• Notice of election: 13 March 2023
• Nomination period: 14 March 2023 until 3 April 2023 (weekdays only), 9am until 5pm, 4 April 9am until 4pm
• Register to vote deadline: midnight on Monday 17 April 2023
• Postal vote deadline: 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023
• Proxy vote deadline: 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023

Central Bedfordshire Council is reminding residents that, following a change in government legislation, voter ID will be mandatory at polling stations. Acceptable forms of ID include a government-issued ID, such as: a driving license, passport, as well as travel passes and proof of age ID cards. A comprehensive list of acceptable forms of identification can be found on the Council’s website.  For anyone that doesn’t have any of these forms of ID, they can apply for a postal vote or the new Voter Authority Certificate. Details of how to do this can be also found on the Council’s website (click on link below).
