72 & 73 Bus Service Update from Central Bedfordshire Council

"We understand how important local bus services are to residents and following the recent news that Stagecoach are withdrawing the 72 and 73 services we have been in positive conversations with other local bus operators about providing a new service. We would like to reassure residents that an alternative service will be in operation from Monday 31stOctober. We will share details of the new service soon and encourage people to support it as much as they can.
We are committed to working with commercial providers to maintain the current network and improve it where possible, but the impact of COVID-19, rising operational costs and low passenger numbers has made some routes unviable and unfortunately, we cannot stop an operator withdrawing a commercial service if they wish to.”
