Our communities and their experiences with COVID-19

Date Added: 23/06/2022

Take part in a survey to share your experiences

We are asking our communities to take part in a survey to share their experiences with COVID-19.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, some communities experienced more negative impacts of COVID-19 than others, both locally and nationally. Evidence shows that Black African, Black Caribbean, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Gypsy, Roma & Traveller communities, as well as residents living in areas of high deprivation, have experienced the greatest impacts

Understanding the impact of COVID-19 on our communities
We are working with Bedford Borough Council’s Public Health Team, the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) and Community Regen to understand how and why these communities have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

A team of residents have been trained by NatCen and CommunityRegen to carry out research amongst their local community. They will design and deliver surveys and group discussions to understand topics including:
• how different residents have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic
• what barriers or challenges they faced during the pandemic
• what support communities need going forward

At the end of the project, the community researchers will support the analysis of findings to develop solutions to address health inequalities in the local area.

Do you want to take part?
You can share your experiences and views via an online community survey.

Focus groups
You also have the opportunity to take part in focus groups by expressing your interest at the end of the survey, or by emailing [email protected]

We are particularly interested in hearing from residents living in or near Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Flitwick, and from members of the communities mentioned at the top of this email, and frontline workers.
