Sandy's New Skatepark Opens
Date Added: 11/08/2022
Sandy Town Council is pleased to announce that having passed a full RoSPA inspection, Sandy’s new skatepark, at Sunderland Road Recreation Ground is open and ready for use. Today the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Town Clerk and Outdoor Team Leader met with representatives of Maverick Skateparks, the contractor who designed and built the park, for the official handover.
We are also excited to share that a Skate Jam to officially launch the new skatepark will be held on Saturday 24th September, from 12pm – 4pm. More details on this event will be published soon.
In the meantime, the Council hopes that people across the community will enjoy using this wonderful new facility. We would ask users to walk on the path, rather than on the earth around the skatepark, to allow the ground to settle and the grass to grow.
Our thanks go to all the sponsors who helped to make this project possible: Central Bedfordshire Council, Frontier, GeeJay Chemicals Ltd., Grand Union Housing Group, Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund, The Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire and The Rotary Club of Sandy.
Thanks also go to Robert Lacey for these great photos of some of the first people to try out the new skatepark.
