Central Bedfordshire Council: Latest shows at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre October

Date Added: 14/10/2022

Iain Farrington and his Art Deco Trio

Sat 22 Oct 7.30pm

The brilliant pianist Iain Farrington and his Art Deco Trio with Peter Sparks (clarinet) and Kyle Horch (sax).

The Art Deco Trio perform classical and popular music with a jazz influence, combining the materials and textures of the classical repertoire with the rhythms and harmonies of jazz. Like the Art Deco style, their music mixes elegance and clean lines with exuberance and bold colours. The trio is made up of three friends and colleagues, who have performed together in numerous ensembles at many of the leading UK venues.

The programme comes from their critically acclaimed album, Gershwinicity, and arrangements of popular classics with a jazz twist.

Great Expectations

Fri 21 Oct 7.30pm

The critically-acclaimed Pantaloons are a vibrant and anarchic theatre company who bring what we consider to be a vital sense of “play” back to classical performance. In their theatre, your imagination is just as important as theirs.

They now proudly present an affectionately anarchic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ captivating coming-of-age chronicle.

“My father’s family name being Pirrip, and my Christian name Philip, my infant tongue could make of both names nothing longer or more explicit than Pip. So, I called myself Pip, and came to be called Pip.”

Join Pip the orphan on a journey through his eventful life via hilarious turns and tragic twists; filled with escaped convicts, eccentric spinsters, mysterious benefactors and gut-wrenching heartbreak.

Not suitable for under 9s.

“A cleverly adapted, joyous comic makeover of the treasured story.” The Stage on their 2015 production of Pride & Prejudice

"That was really funny" me on their 2019 production of Othello

"As British as a cup of tea, as fast paced and silly as an episode of Tiswas." Fringe Review on their 2018 production of War of the Worlds
