Jubilee fun in the Library

We had a royal time over the Jubilee with tea parties at Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Shefford Library.  A visit from Her Majesty at Dunstable Library and selfies with Her Majesty at Flitwick Library.  The fairies at Biggleswade Library had their own Jubilee celebrations whilst Potton Library had fun with LEGO and royal crafts in the Potton Jubilee Marquee, and of course there were corgis everywhere.

Award Winners
Community Group Award for Sandy Library
Library Manager Madeline Phippen together with staff and volunteers at Sandy Library won the community group award given by Sandy Town Mayor for services to the community.

The team were chosen for this award due to the service they provided during the pandemic to local children. The nomination stated that when the pandemic restrictions lifted enough to allow the library to open Madeline would hand pick books for children to collect, finding out the children’s interests and ensuring children got books they would enjoy. The staff made craft packs that kept the children busy and were a godsend to parents. The staff always greeted the children with a smile.

Winning Window at Toddington Library
Toddington Library were delighted to be awarded second prize the Toddington Village Platinum Jubilee Best Dressed Window competition.

All the windows were judged by actress Shyko Amos (Ruby Patterson from Death in Paradise).

Happy 50th  Birthday to Toddington Library

Toddington Library with its central location on the village green has been part of village life for 50 years.

Customers and staff celebrated on Saturday 11 June with an opportunity to see how the library had changed over the years, a chance to spot a younger version of themselves in a display old photographs and of course tea and Birthday cake.
