Sandy Town Council: Commonwealth graves

Date Added: 29/03/2023

Commonwealth war graves in Sandy

This month Sandy cemetery received new signage indicating the location of some Commonwealth War Graves. This sign has been placed to honour the men and women of the commonwealth forces who died in the first and second world wars, ensuring they will never be forgotten.

Across Britain, there are war graves and memorials at over 12,000 locations, commemorating over 300,000 service people. Sandy Town Council is proud to be one of the small and intimate local churchyards where service peoples are commemorated.

Visit www.cwgc.org to find out more about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission – an organisation that was established in 1917.
