Overnight Closures of the A1 in Late January 2024
Date Added: 12/01/2024
National Highways will be installing CCTV and narrow lane barriers on the A1 in alternate directions between Wyboston and the Black Cat roundabout between Thursday 18, Friday 19 & Wednesday 24 January 2024 and southbound between Tempsford and the Black Cat roundabout on Tuesday 23 January 2024.
To keep disruption to a minimum, the works will be completed overnight when traffic is typically at its lowest. The A1 will be closed as outlined below:
-
Wyboston to the Black Cat roundabout (Southbound): Thursday 18 and Friday 19 January 2024 from 9pm-5am each night. Traffic will use the A428, A1198 and A505 to rejoin the A1 at junction 9.
Any traffic wishing to join the A1 southbound within the closed section will be diverted north on the A1 to Wyboston to join the diversion.
-
Tempsford and the Black Cat roundabout (Southbound): Tuesday 24 January 2024 from 9pm-5am. Southbound traffic will use the A421 & the A603 at SANDY re-joining the A1 at Sandy roundabout. Northbound traffic will continue to use the A1.
-
Wyboston to the Black Cat roundabout (Northbound): Wednesday 24 January 2024 (one night) from 9pm-5am
Please remember:
-
Traffic approaching the closure location shortly before 9pm is likely to be subject to the diversion while the closure is put in place.

National Highways always try to stick to timings; however, these closures may be amended due to poor weather or operational reasons.
