Central Bedfordshire Council: Bus services between Potton & Sandy
Date Added: 27/10/2023
A message about bus services operating between Potton & Sandy on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday next week, 30th & 31st October & 1st November from Central Bedfordshire Council:
There is currently a road closure in place in Sandy High Street as a new pedestrian crossing is being installed. The closure is currently due to continue until 10th November.
This week, we have worked with our Highways colleagues to ensure that bus services can divert via St Swithun’s Way and so operate as normal. On Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday next week however, this diversion will unfortunately not be available as the junction of St Swithun’s Way and the high street is due to be re-surfaced. Between 09.00 & 15.00 on these days, bus services will unfortunately therefore not be able to operate between Potton & Sandy.
This means that between 09.00 & 15.00 on 30th & 31st October & 1st November:
• Grant Palmer service 72 will only be able to operate between Bedford & Sandy. The service will have to terminate at Sandy Market Place and will not be able to continue to Potton.
• Herbert’s Travel services 188, 189 & 190 between Biggleswade & Sandy via Potton and the outlying villages will have to terminate at Sandy Station and will not be able to serve Sandy town centre or Blunham.
Outside of these times, bus services will be able to operate as normal for the remainder of the high street closure.
We are sorry for the disruption this will inevitably cause to passengers but despite our best endeavours, there just does not appear to be a realistic alternative diversion route that would allow the services to continue as normal.
To keep passengers informed, we have posted notices on affected bus stops, relevant realtime information screens and on the CBC website. Bus operators will also be making passengers aware of the changes.
