Election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Bedfordshire Police Area on Thursday 2 May 2024

Ahead of the election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Bedfordshire Police Area, nomination papers may be obtained during normal office hours from the office of the Police Area Returning Officer (Robin Porter) at Elections Office, Town Hall, George Street, Luton, LU1 2BQ between 10am and 4pm on any working day from Wednesday 27 March 2024 until no later than 4pm on Friday 5 April 2024. In order to be validly nominated, a candidate (or person acting on their behalf) must deposit £5,000 with the Police Area Returning Officer by 4pm on Friday 5 April 2024 by electronic transfer, cash or a bankers draft made payable to ‘Luton Borough Council’.
If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 2 May 2024 between the hours of 7am and 10pm. Applications to register to vote must reach the relevant local authority’s Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 16 April 2024. Applications can be made online: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the relevant local authority’s Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024. In addition, applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid forthis election must reach the relevant local authority’s Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on
Wednesday 24 April 2024. Please note that applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the relevant local authority’s Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the relevant local authority’s Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 2 May 2024.
