The Mayor stated: “On behalf of the people of Sandy I offer my sincere condolences to the Royal family. The dedication to duty and steadfastness to the pledge Her Majesty gave on her 21st birthday was unwavering. She vowed to dedicate her life to the service of our Country and let us be in no doubt that it was a pledge fulfilled over 70 and more glorious years.”

Laying of Flowers
Should you wish to lay flowers during the period of mourning, you may do so in the Churchyard at St Swithun’s Church where an area has set aside by the Stone Cross next to the path.
We would kindly ask that you remove any form of wrapping from the flowers before laying them.
At the end of the mourning period there will be a ceremonial removal of the flowers. All flowers will be taken away to be composted and a tree will be planted in the town, in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
