We will be collecting your garden waste soon
Date Added: 11/10/2021
Your garden waste will be collected between 18 and 30 of October.
To facilitate this, food waste will not be collected during this two-week window, as collection crews are redeployed to clear a backlog of garden waste.
• During this time, we will empty your garden waste bin, or your two council issued bags, on your normal recycling day.
• Place your bin or issued bags at their normal collection point, by 7am for a one-off collection.
• If your road isn’t visited on the scheduled day, crews will return as soon as they can - so please leave your bin/bags out.
• We can’t collect any additional garden waste and can’t return if you forget to put out your bin or bags.
All households will receive a bin tag shortly with information to help you plan for these collections.
More details
Between the 18 - 30 of October, food waste will not be collected.
Please home compost your food waste where possible, fill your food waste bin ready for when collections resume or dispose of it in your black bin. Double bagging food waste can help reduce odours.
Why are food waste collections being paused?
• Food waste collection crews are being redeployed to help us clear a backlog of garden waste, due to the national driver shortages.
• The two week pause of food waste collections is required, as it will take a fortnight to cover the whole of Central Bedfordshire’s garden waste collections.
• Roughly half of the properties in our region will have their garden waste collected in the first week and the other half the following week, between the 18 - 30 October.
When will food waste collections resume?
Food waste collections will resume from Monday 1 November.
