Planning application submitted for future Flitwick crematorium

Date Added: 01/11/2021

A new planning application has been submitted for Central Bedfordshire’s first crematorium.

We withdrew the original planning application for the proposed crematorium off Fordfield Road in Steppingley, near Flitwick to have time to make changes following public feedback.

Changes since the last planning application include a new 40mph speed limit on Fordfield Road following safety concerns raised by residents. A proposed cycleway and footway link has also been installed.

The crematorium would remain in the same location as previously submitted back in March, on agricultural land with access from Fordfield Road.

Subject to approval, construction is estimated to take 12 months.
