National survey seeks local views from unpaid carers on social care services

Date Added: 13/10/2021

A survey will be dropping on the doormats of unpaid carers of adult social care customers in October 2021.

Central Bedfordshire Council as part of a National Survey will be sending out the survey to a sample of around 800 carers, who look after a family member, partner or friend in need of support or services. The survey asks for views on whether services received by carers help them in their caring role, their life outside of caring and the Carers' perception of services provided to the cared for person. Additional questions have been included this year to find out what effect the pandemic has had on them since March 2020.

Cllr Carole Hegley, Executive Member for Social Care and Health, said: “We really appreciate the tremendous contribution that unpaid carers make and, the survey is really important to help us understand carers views and experiences to ensure we have the right offer in place.”

The results will be used by organisations such as the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Digital and the Care Quality Commission, as well as Central Bedfordshire Council to improve services.
