With Halloween over and the kids back at school it's time for some grown up treats this November. Join us for Murder, Mystery and Mayhem, our very first Central Beds Crime Festival! We have got a fanatastic selection of crime authors for you to meet at venues through out the county as well as reading challenges, competitions, a crime fiction quiz and some great prizes to be won in participating libraries. So whether you are obsessed with psychological thrillers, love a classic police story or fancy trying something different, we are sure you will find something you will enjoy.

Hertfordshire based Amanda Brittany is the bestselling author of five psychological crime thrillers.Her latest novel is The Island House features a dark family secret, a gothic guesthouse surrounded by sea and of course murder.

The Rufus Centre, Flitwick
Gytha Lodge is a multi-award-winning playwright and novelist. Her debut novel She Lies I Wait was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick and her fourth book featuring Detective Jonah Sheens is due out in the new year.
Previously an English teacher at a London comprehensive Rachael is now a fulltime writer living in Hertfordshire. She writes a psychological crime series set in the cathedral city of St Albans. Here, DCI Maarten Jansen struggles against his plain-speaking Dutch upbringing when faced with the seemingly polite world of the picturesque city.

Rowan Coleman lives with her husband, and five children in a very full house in Hertfordshire. She juggles writing novels with raising her family. Under the pen name of Bella Ellis, she has written a series of unique historical mysteries in which she imagines the Bronte Sisters as detectives.

Peter Laws is an author, journalist, film critic and public speaker. He's an ordained Reverend with a fascination for the macabre. He writes the Matt Hunter novel series. Matt is an atheist ex-vicar turned university professor, who helps the police solve cult related and religiously motivated crimes. The novels are intense, quirky and laced with hints of the supernatural and black humour.

The series has featured twice as Richard and Judy Book club picks and DI Adam Fawley may soon be coming to life on screen as the TV rights have been sold.

Adam LeBor is a British author, journalist, writing coach and editorial trainer, who worked as a foreign correspondent from 1991 for many years but is now based in London. He is currently writing a noir crime series set in present-day Budapest featuring Balthazar Kovacs, a Gypsy detective in the Budapest murder squad. The books are not classic police procedurals, but a hybrid of crime and conspiracy thrillers.

Tickets cost £5 (£3 for concessions) and include entry to prize draw at each event for a book signed by the author. Numbers are limited at some of our venues so book early and treat yourself to an evening of crime. Interested in more than one of our authors? Tickets are just £3 each when you book for two or more events, so why not give yourself a double or even triple treat!
Books will be available to buy at all the events either directly from our authors or via Book Leighton Buzzard Central Bedfordshire's newest independent bookshop.
