Coronavirus update 16.02.21

Date Added: 16/02/2021

The NHS has begun its next phase of the vaccination programme by inviting everyone aged 65 to 69 to book a vaccination.

Until now the vaccinations have been prioritised to the first four priority groups, this included those over 70 years of age, frontline health and care workers and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable and high risk from the virus. As most of the people in these groups have received their first vaccination the offer is now being extended to priority group 5 – those aged 65-69.

People who are at moderate risk from coronavirus (priority group 6) are also starting to be contacted by the NHS to arrange vaccination appointments.

Book your vaccination

The easiest way to arrange a vaccination is through the national booking service which can be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.

The system allows you to choose a time slot and location that suits you.

Vaccinations centres in Central Bedfordshire are in the following sites:

  • Rufus Centre - Steppingley Road, Flitwick - MK45 1AH
  • Weatherly Centre - Eagle Farm Road, Biggleswade - SG18 8JH
  • Priory House - Monks Walk, Shefford - SG17 5TQ
  • Watling House, Dunstabe, LU6 1LF

There are also centres in Bedford and Luton that can be booked if these are closer to you.

Please note, when you try to book an appointment, only those centres with available appointments will show. If a centre is fully booked it will not show. If you want to wait to book a specific centre, you can do this, but you will need to keep checking online to see when appointments become available.

Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

Attending your appointment

Please do not attend any of the vaccination centres unless you have booked an appointment.

When it is time for your appointment, please don’t turn up early. We need to keep everyone safe by socially distancing in waiting areas, so they are limited to the numbers they can hold.

Please remember to take your booking number with you when attending a vaccination appointment. Those who arrive at the centres without their booking number will be turned away.

COVID-19 health advice

Watch out for vaccine scams
Unfortunately some criminals are taking advantage of the roll out of the coronavirus vaccine to commit fraud.

The most important point to remember is that the vaccine is free of charge.

The NHS will never:

  • ask you for your bank account or card details
  • ask you for your PIN or banking password
  • arrive unannounced to your home to administer the vaccine
  • ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving licence, bills or pay slips

Find out more and how to report issues on the Action Fraud website.
