Have your say on the Tenancy Strategy
On 5 November we launched a 12-week consultation on proposed changes to the Tenancy Strategy. The changes are a key as part of improving our housing management services and, also as a response to listening to tenants and the many changes in legislation and good practice affecting social housing that have taken place since our last review eight years ago. The consultation will close on Friday 28 January 2022.
The draft new strategy will address the key issue of:
The key proposal is to stop of the use of Fixed-Term Tenancies and move to secure, often referred to as ‘lifetime’ Tenancy Agreements. The 12-month introductory tenancy will remain in place.
We have listened to previous feedback from our tenants and the draft strategy sets out the council’s proposal to give our council tenants more security. It will also aid our housing team to have more time to better manage our housing stock and tackle anti-social behaviour and tenancy fraud.
