A1 northbound at Biggleswade: resurfacing
Date Added: 06/10/2020
Message from Highways England
Following our recent communication about works on the A1(M) northbound between junction 10 and the Black Cat Roundabout, I’m pleased to inform you that we’ve completed most of these works. When we came to complete the resurfacing works between the south and north roundabouts at Biggleswade, the road was in a worse condition than expected. We decided to re-plan these works to ensure we could complete all the resurfacing which is required.
We now plan to complete this work over three nights from Monday 19 October to Wednesday 21 October, working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.
Diversion route
Northbound traffic will leave the A1(M) at junction 10, take the A507 westbound towards Stotfold and join the A6 northbound at Clophill. From the A6, traffic will join the A421 eastbound to rejoin the A1 at the Black Cat Roundabout. Traffic will be able to travel southbound towards the north roundabout at Biggleswade. We anticipate this will add approximately 30 minutes to your journey.
On Tuesday 20 October, the A1 northbound will also be closed between Tempsford Road and the Black Cat Roundabout for bridge joint replacement work at Kelpie Bends. Traffic travelling north of the Black Cat Roundabout should follow the above diversion route to avoid this second closure.
Residents who live on the A1 northbound between the south and the north roundabouts will be given access to and from their property as required. Please approach the closure with caution and you will be escorted through the closure when it is safe to do so.
