Markets
Sandy has a long history of markets within the town. Sadly, due to lack of support, the Friday market had to close. Since then Sandy Town Council has organised a variety of different markets. Including French Markets, craft markets and a Street Food Market.
Sandy Town Council held two markets, both in the Market Square in Sandy in 2021 as well as the Christmas lights market, in partnership with the Friends of Sandy Christmas Lights.
The Spring Craft Market was held in May 2021. Sandy Town Council welcomed the community back to our High Street after lockdown. Local small businesses, artisans, crafters and bakers attended alongside Central Bedfordshire Council’s Communities and Partnership Team, and Sandy Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group. This market was also part of Greensands Country Festival. The festival offers a diverse and exciting programme of events across Greensand Country, from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay.
The Summer Street Market was held in August 2021. A range of small businesses were in attendance providing a wealth of artisanal products, gifts, art pieces and tasty treats. Live music was provided by ExAct Vocal Duo and Sandy Ukulele Group.
This year Sandy Town Council has held two markets in the Market Square. An Easter Market on 10th April and a Summer Market on 21st August.
Both markets showcased local crafters and Bedfordshire produce. A variety of goods were on offer from handmade crafts, art, home décor, plants, bath products, sweet treats, drinks, clothing, jewellery and more.
