CCTV

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is considered to be one of the most powerful tools available to assist with efforts to combat crime and disorder whilst enhancing community safety.  Sandy Town Centre's High Street is covered by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras which are monitored and maintained by Hertfordshire CCTV and are funded by Central Bedfordshire Council.

Sandy Town Council operates and is responsible for CCTV cameras within its recreation areas, this includes:

  • Sunderland Road Skate Park
  • Sunderland Road Jenkins Pavilion
  • Town Centre Car Park
  • Bedford Road Recreation Ground

CCTV footage is sometimes needed as evidence and may be released to third party organisations such as the police and statutory authorities and also to members of the public. Members of the public are entitled to contact Sandy Town Council to enquire about incidents and evidence. The procedure and conditions under which footage from the Sandy cameras may be released to third parties are very strictly governed. All enquiries should be submitted to the data controller on 01767 681491.
