Weekly COVID-19 report 25.03.21
Date Added: 25/03/2021
Weekly figures
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 21 March) was 149, this is an increase from the previous week (137). The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population stands at 51.
The report also shows over 100,000 adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose, with almost 9,000 in the last 7 days. This is good progress however, the virus is still in our communities and sadly, the report shows that 8 residents have died in the latest reporting week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas are as follows:
Milton Keynes – 131 new cases (48 cases per 100,000) and 7 deaths. 9,467 vaccinated (last 7 days).
Luton – 281 new cases (131 cases per 100,000) and 8 deaths. 3,612 vaccinated.
Bedford – 63 new cases (36 cases per 100,000) and 9 deaths. 5,096 vaccinated.
The increase in cases shows how fragile the situation is. Some of these new cases have been identified through rapid testing (LFD testing). Rapid testing is being rolled out through schools but is also available to anyone who lives or works in Central Bedfordshire who needs to leave their home and are likely to come into contact with other people.
The test is free and gives results back within an hour.
