Weekly COVID-19 report 25.02.21
Date Added: 25/02/2021
COVID-19 cases per 100k population drop below the 100 mark
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 21 February) decreased to 259. This is a slight decrease of 84 cases from the previous week. The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population has dropped to 89.
The reducing number of new cases is positive with the cases per 100k dropping below the 100 mark but the number of deaths being reported each week continues to be high. Very sadly, the report shows that 28 residents have died in the latest reporting week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas also show a similar trend of reducing cases but the deaths remain high.
Milton Keynes – 350 new cases (129 cases per 100,000) and 15 deaths
Luton – 463 new cases (217 cases per 100,000) and 27 deaths
Bedford – 241 new cases (139 cases per 100,000) and 31 deaths
As announced on Monday by the Prime Minister, a roadmap is now in place to come out of lockdown, hopefully for the final time. To ensure this is successful, it is vital we all continue to stay at home until the rules change and when we do go out remember: Hands. Face. Space.
Even if you have been vaccinated, you must still follow these rules, as it is not yet clear if those who have been vaccinated can still pass on the virus even if the vaccination protects them from being seriously ill.
