Date Added: 18/02/2021
Weekly figures
COVID-19 cases continue to fall but remain high
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 14 February) decreased to 343. This is a decrease of 137 cases from the previous week. The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population has also decreased to 118.
The reducing number of new cases is positive but the number of deaths being reported each week continues to be high. Very sadly, the report shows that 34 residents have died in the latest reporting week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas also show a similar trend of reducing cases but the deaths remain high.
• Milton Keynes – 353 new cases (131 cases per 100,000) and 30 deaths
• Luton – 483 new cases (226 cases per 100,000) and 26 deaths
• Bedford – 312 new cases (180 cases per 100,000) and 38 deaths
We all must continue to stay at home and when we do go out remember: Hands. Face. Space to save lives.
Even if you have been vaccinated, you must still follow these rules, as it is not yet clear if those who have been vaccinated can still pass on the virus even if the vaccination protects them from being seriously ill.
