Weekly COVID-19 report -16.09.21
Date Added: 16/09/2021
Numbers of cases up this week
Over the last week (week ending 15 September), cases in Central Bedfordshire have gone down by 193 to 779 (264.9 cases per 100,000). Sadly, there were eight deaths registered in our area in the last reporting week.
The reports from our neighbours show a similar pattern:
• Bedford - 455 new cases, down 33 (260.5 cases per 100,000) with 3 deaths reported
• Luton - 732 new cases, down 119 (342.8 cases per 100,000) with 6 deaths reported
• Milton Keynes – 685 new cases, down 148 (253.5 cases per 100,000) and 2 deaths reported
Although the vaccines are proving to be very effective in reducing serious illnesses, the continuing high numbers of COVID-19 positive cases is worrying and a sign that we must not drop our guard. As we go into Autumn and spend more time indoors it is even more important that we follow the guidance to keep ourselves and others safe.
Booster jabs are being rolled out now so if you are offered a third dose of the vaccine, please make sure you take it up to give yourself and others the best protection.
Coronavirus remains a serious health risk. You should stay cautious to help protect yourself and others.
• Let fresh air in if you meet indoors. Meeting outdoors is safer
• Wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you come into contact with people you do not normally meet
• Get tested and self-isolate if required
• If you haven’t already, get vaccinated
