Date Added: 12/04/2021
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 7 April) was 69, ninety fewer than the previous week (159). The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population has decreased to 23.9 (from 55.1 last week).
Vaccination is still increasing – 139,249 adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose, with 16,869 receiving a jab in the last 7 days. There was one death in our area in the last reporting week, seven fewer than the previous week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas are as follows:
• Milton Keynes – 87 new cases (32.3 cases per 100,000). 10,500 vaccinated (last 7 days) and 3 deaths reported.
• Luton – 196 new cases (92 cases per 100,000). 11,460 vaccinated, with 4 deaths recorded.
• Bedford – 32 new cases (18.5 cases per 100,000). 6,734 vaccinated and 1 death reported.
This is all encouraging news but the virus is still with us and sadly people are still dying or becoming seriously ill so it’s important we keep up our guard.
Remember, coronavirus restrictions remain in place:
• Only socialise indoors with people you live with or who are in your support bubble
• Up to 6 people or 2 households can meet outside
• Work from home if you can and only travel when necessary
• If you have symptoms get a test and stay at home
Always remember: Hands, Face, Space, Fresh air.
To help protect yourself and others, remember that rapid testing is now available to anyone who lives or works in Central Bedfordshire through our testing centres in Biggleswade, Dunstable and Flitwick
The test is free and gives results back within an hour.
And twice weekly rapid tests will be available to everyone to order to use at home from tomorrow 9 April.
