Weekly COVID-19 report 04.03.21
Date Added: 08/03/2021
Weekly figures
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Central Bedfordshire (in the week ending 28 February) dropped to 186. This is a decrease of 73 cases from the previous week. The number of weekly positive cases per 100,000 population has also decreased to 64.
The report also now shows how many adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose. By 21 February 70,849 people in Central Bedfordshire had been vaccinated, this is 31% of our population. This is great progress however, the virus is still in our communities and sadly, the report shows that 25 residents have died in the latest reporting week.
The latest data from our neighbouring areas also show a similar trend of reducing cases but the deaths remain high.
Milton Keynes – 265 new cases (98 cases per 100,000) and 18 deaths. 55,325 vaccinated (27%).
Luton – 303 new cases (142 cases per 100,000) and 14 deaths. 39,201 vaccinated (24%).
Bedford – 162 new cases (93 cases per 100,000) and 25 deaths. 46,083 vaccinated (34%).
Despite more and more people being vaccinated, for now we must all continue to follow the guidance: stay at home as much as possible and when we do go out remember: Hands. Face. Space.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, rapid tests are available for anyone leaving their home for work where they are likely to come into contact with other people. The test is free and available to anyone who has no symptoms of COVID-19 and results back within an hour.
