There's no excuse for abuse
Date Added: 17/08/2020
Older people can experience domestic abuse too
How has lockdown been for you? Have you been alone at home with a partner who has been controlling and abusive?
Domestic abuse can be overlooked when it happens to older people; it might not be recognised as domestic abuse.
It could have been part of their lives for many years and victims might pass it off as "one of those things", or say things like, "I am not hit so it is not that bad."
But if you feel as though you are walking on egg shells then please speak to someone about it.
Both women and men can be affected by domestic abuse.
If you are being abused by a partner, a family member, or someone else who has caring responsibilities for you, then please speak to someone about it.
If you are not sure what abuse is, please look at the Bedfordshire Domestic Abuse Partnership (BDAP) website.
