Street Tag to launch in Central Bedfordshire Schools
Date Added: 11/10/2021
School students, teachers, other school staff and their families in Central Bedfordshire are being encouraged to join in the fun of using Street Tag, the free smartphone game app that offers rewards for walking, cycling and running.
Street Tag is a family-friendly smartphone app game that records your physical activity and encourages you to explore your local area by collecting virtual tags located across Central Bedfordshire.
The community game went live in August and with a new academic year now in full swing schools are being invited to sign up ready for the launch of the first Street Tag school season starting on 18 October 2021.
Up to 250 people can represent a school team, and you don’t even have to be a student as anyone connected to a school can be part of the team. That includes parents/carers, grandparents, teachers and other school staff who can all sign up and collect tags and points to help their school climb the leader board.
Tags can be placed or collected all over Central Bedfordshire, including parks, footpaths and bridleways, leisure centres and other public spaces including your normal route to school or work, turning Central Bedfordshire into a giant virtual playground.
Street Tag will also feature as part of the virtual school games, an inter-school competition organised by Team Beds & Luton – Bedfordshire’s Active Partnership. The school games gives children the chance to represent their school team in a number of inclusive activities. There’s no cost to schools to enter Street Tag and by taking part they will compete in their school games area leader board and be in with the chance to win cash prizes for their school.
For more information about the school and community activities visit our Street Tag webpage.
Players need to download the Street Tag app which they can find on both Google play and the Apple app store.
