Solar panel cold-callers spotted in Flitwick
Date Added: 12/01/2022
Act with caution if you receive a visit from an unexpected caller
The Trading Standards team is warning residents – especially those with solar panels fitted to their homes – to be on their guard if they receive an unexpected visit from someone about solar panels.
We have received a report of individuals calling at properties in the Flitwick area about solar panels fitted to residents homes.
It is known that similar types of doorstep callers have used tactics such as attempting to offer a health check on fitted panels to improve their efficiency, or claim that a part may need replacing, or even that a potential safety issue has been identified, all of which has often resulted in some residents paying a significant amount of money for work that was not required.
If you receive such a visit at your home, please act with caution. Always take time to check any claims being made and never agree to any work when visited by a trader unexpectedly.
If you have any concerns about the solar panels fitted to your home, contact the business that originally fitted the panels or another local reputable business for professional advice. If you are interested in what the cold-caller is offering, take some time to shop around by contacting local reputable businesses, before agreeing to any work.
If you ever suspect or experience a cold-calling trader in your local area, please report them immediately to us, by calling 0808 223 1133.
Please help warn others about these types of cold-callers, by letting your family, friends and neighbours know about this alert.
