Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness week and we have put together some useful links of workshops and events.

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) Position Statement
Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a term used to describe a profile of demand avoidant behaviours, often triggered by anxiety and understood to be part of the autistic spectrum. PDA is not part of current clinical diagnostic tools for autism but it is acknowledged that demand avoidant behaviours can present as a sign and symptom of possible autism spectrum, as identified within the NICE  Guidelines (CG 128)

“Yes We Can” Sports  Program
"Yes We Can" provides access to disability sport in South West Beds and is supported by the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade in partnership with local sporting and commercial organisations and Leighton- Linslade Town Council.

Sports currently available:

Football delivered by MK Dons SET  17:30 to 19:30 Tuesday at Oak Bank School

Hockey delivered by LB Hockey Club 11:45 Sunday at Vandyke School

Tennis by arrangement

Sailing by arrangement

Swimming via partnership with Otters Swimming Club

May Half Term

SEND Special - Bug Hunting, Tuesday 1st June: 2 pm

wood** Please note this event is aimed at SEND children and siblings only**
This Half Term in association with the Greensand Trust we are pleased to offer a special free event for children with SEND taking place in Flitwick Wood.

Activities will include: Bug hunting, and I-Spy Butterfly! Your chance to discover the creepy-crawlies of the wood and see how many butterflies can be found!

  • Minimum age – 6
  • Limited numbers – up to 12
  • Accompanying adults DO NOT require a ticket - only children taking part
  • All children must be accompanied by adults
  • COVID Compliance means guided activities rather than group work

Super Kids Online – virtual support group for parents or carers with children who have SEND
Sandy Children's Centre - every other Thursday, 10:30 am – 11:30 am

Fortnightly catch ups and support online.  A chance to speak to professionals from the CDC, Early Years Support Team, Speech and Language plus more.
