Seeing friends and family again? Stay in the fresh air

Date Added: 30/03/2021

Today marks the first step of the roadmap out of lockdown
The ‘stay at home’ rule’ has ended, with two households or up to six people now permitted to meet outdoors. We are much safer in the fresh air as Covid-19 particles are blown away, so if you do meet friends and family over the coming days and Easter weekend, stay outside and keep a safe distance.

Outdoor sports allowed

While pubs, hairdressers and non-essential shops will remain closed across Central Bedfordshire, outdoor sport will be allowed to resume. Facilities such as tennis courts and golf courses are allowed to reopen, giving you more freedom to socialise outdoors, ahead of schools breaking up for the Easter holidays.

Some restrictions remain in place

You must only socialise indoors with people you live with or who are in your support bubble. The government have also urged people in England to continue to work from home where possible and only travel when necessary. The easing of restrictions means that the over-arching ‘stay at home’ rule is being eased to ‘stay local’. And please remember the recommendation to keep two metres apart is a vital part of staying safe.

Travel and work

You should continue to work from home where you can and minimise the number of journeys you make, avoiding travel at the busiest times and routes. Travel abroad will continue to be prohibited, other than for a small number of permitted reasons, and holidays abroad will not be allowed.

Get tested and stay safe

Let’s remain vigilant and take this next step carefully, so that we can all get out of lockdown as soon as possible. If you have symptoms get a test and stay at home. It’s important to reconnect with friends and family, but only within your support bubble or up to six people outside. Remember, you can still make the most of video calling, social media and messaging apps such as What’s App to stay in touch.
