Date Added: 09/03/2022
Sandy Town Council is excited to announce that Mrs Nicola Sewell will be joining the Council’s team as Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer following the departure of current Town Clerk, Mr Chris Robson.
Mrs Sewell will be starting with the Council in mid-March, allowing for some handover time with the outgoing Town Clerk. Mrs Sewell has several years’ experience within the local council sector, most recently acting as Town Clerk to St Ives Town Council in Cambridgeshire. Following her appointment to the role, Mrs Sewell said; "I am very much looking forward to working with Sandy Town Council and serving the town's residents, taking forward projects that have been started and looking at what we can do to continue to make Sandy a wonderful place to live, work and visit."
Mr. Robson, who is leaving the Council after almost 7 years to pursue a new opportunity, commented; “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Town Clerk to Sandy Town Council and the challenges and opportunities it has brought. Throughout my time, I have been fantastically supported by a hard-working team of staff and volunteer Councillors who give up their time to help make Sandy a great community to be part of. It has been an honour to play a role in that community and work with the brilliant volunteers, groups and organisations that contribute so valuably to the town.”
Cllr Martin Pettitt, Mayor of Sandy, commented; “The Council is looking forward to welcoming Nicola to her new role and working with her to help continue the work of the Council, especially completing a number of exciting initiatives over the coming months, including the building of a new skatepark, the roll out of a new electric Council works truck and of course, the Jubilee celebrations in June. I write this without fear of contradiction from any quarter. While all colleagues and team members at Sandy Town Council are very sorry indeed that Mr Robson is leaving us, we wish him nothing but the very best in his new position. His support and advice have been unwavering and members of the community in Sandy and beyond who have had contact with Chris and worked with him over the past 7 years would acknowledge how his hard work and commitment, especially confronting the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, served to benefit us all. We will all miss him, but we wish him and his wife well for the future.”
