Revised consultation on changes to Special Schools and Additional Resource Provisions within mainstream schools – an update 26.03.21
Date Added: 26/03/2021
Earlier this week we closed our consultation on proposals relating to special schools and additional resource provisions within mainstream schools, following feedback from parents that there were inaccuracies in it.
We have fixed these inaccuracies and have also used the opportunity to meet with the SNAP Parent Carer Forum and one of our parents, who kindly gave us feedback about how to improve the consultation document and questionnaire to ensure they are as clear as possible. This includes providing easier to read tables showing the proposed changes for special schools and additional resource provisions. This will display, more simply, what the current provision is, what is proposed for the future and what that change means in terms of school places.
We originally planned to relaunch the consultation this week, but having worked with SNAP Parent Carer Forum and listened to their advice, we have agreed to postpone this until after the Easter holiday. We still plan to run the consultation for a full twelve weeks. It is important that you are able to have your say on these proposals, and we want to ensure that you have plenty of time. We will continue to work with SNAP Parent Carer Forum on the consultation documents before we relaunch.
127 people responded to the first consultation. We will consider the comments made, but we strongly encourage those people to resubmit their views based on the clearer information and the revised questions in the survey when we relaunch. This will ensure the feedback that is included is not based on any misunderstanding.
Again, we do apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience this has caused, and we are grateful for the feedback that we’ve received, which means that we can reconsider our approach and, more clearly and accurately, present these proposals to you. We will be in touch again after Easter when we relaunch the consultation.
