Most Central Bedfordshire pupils granted first choice school on National Secondary Offer Day

Date Added: 03/03/2021

Overall 98 per cent have been offered one of their top three preferred choices
The majority of young people in Central Bedfordshire starting secondary school in September have been granted one of their school preferences for the 2021/22 academic year.

Monday (1 March) was National Secondary Offer Day, and parents and pupils across the country found out what the future holds for them. In Central Bedfordshire overall 98 per cent have been offered one of their top three preferred choices.

For pupils that have applied to transfer to upper schools from September 2021, 94 per cent got their first preference school. While in terms of transfer to secondary schools, 96 per cent of children got their first preference.

There were just under 3,000 applications most of which came via the council’s online system; 97 per cent of applicants to upper schools and 94 per cent of applicants to secondary school applied online, representing an increase in the use of the online system in comparison to last year.

Anyone wishing to decline or change their offered place can do so by submitting a change of preference form. The deadline for this is 15 March 2021 with new offers going out on 21 April 2021.

Meanwhile, children starting school and transferring to middle school will find out whether they have received their first preference on 16 April, National Primary Offer Day.
