Message From Anglian Water: low water pressure in Sandy
Date Added: 16/06/2021
Please be aware that some residents of Sandy have unfortunately been experiencing low water pressure.
As part of our commitment to providing clean and safe drinking water, and in order to comply with Drinking Water Inspectorate regulations, we are required to complete regular and thorough maintenance of all water reservoirs and water towers. This work is currently being completed at Moxhill Reservoir, meaning that we have reconfigured the water network to ensure that the community remains on supply.
Unfortunately, during the recent spell of warm weather, there has been an unprecedented level of water demand, meaning that individuals were running their taps, hoses and showers more than usual and unfortunately this meant that high points of the town experienced lower than normal water pressure.
I would like to reassure you that we are beginning an infrastructure upgrade next week to help maintain consistent water pressure whilst being able to work at Moxhill Reservoir. We will be installing new pipework, this means that we can move water around the network differently to ensure we have enough supply even during warm weather. This upgrade will take around 2 weeks to complete. We are confident that due to this work, when we need to complete regularly scheduled maintenance of the reservoir that we will be able to maintain water pressure.
