Fishing season starts on 16th June 2025

The 2025/26 fishing season starts on 16th June 2025 and ends 14th March 2026.
To apply or renew your permit, you need to present:

  1. A copy of your Environment Agency Rod Licence (Children under the age of 13 do not need a Rod licence to obtain a permit. However, children from the ages of 13 to 16 need a junior licence to obtain a permit)
  2. Some form of identification containing your present address in Sandy or Beeston.

Residents can obtain a new permit for free by sending a copy of these documents by email to [email protected]. Alternatively, residents may bring their rod licence and identification including their address to the Council offices at 10 Cambridge Road, Sandy, SG19 1JE, during public opening hours: Monday & Wednesday 9am-4pm and Friday 9am-2pm.

Permits are also available to young people under the age of 13 but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult when applying and while fishing. For more information, please contact the Town Council offices.

Residents are reminded that fishing is only permitted in hours of daylight; night fishing is strictly prohibited.
