False "Trading Standards" claim during suspicious call

Date Added: 01/10/2021

Act with caution if you receive a telephone call out of the blue

The Trading Standards team has been made aware of a suspicious telephone call a local resident has recently received.

The caller claimed to be from a green energy business and informed the resident that their contact details had been provided to them by Trading Standards so they could inspect some work carried out by another trader.

This call is a SCAM!

Although it is not clear what the caller’s intentions were, we would urge residents who receive an unsolicited telephone call similar to this, to act with caution.

Never feel intimidated into providing information the caller asks for and always be careful not to provide any personal details to any caller who has contacted you out of the blue.

If you do have any doubts about a telephone call you receive, then do not be afraid to end the call by simply hanging up.

If you wish to report a suspicious telephone call to us, please call 0808 223 1133

Please help prevent others from falling victim to this type of telephone scam, by telling your family, friends and neighbours about this alert.

Be Scam Aware
