Day of Action in Sandy is a massive success
Date Added: 07/04/2022
We held a successful Day of Action in Sandy last week.
Our Community Safety and Environmental Services teams worked with Bedfordshire Police, Bedfordshire Fire Service, Grand Union Housing Group, other partner organisations and Local Ward Members, to carry out high visibility patrols, tidying of areas and vegetation, giving fire home safety advice, as well as making visible positive improvements to the local area including litter picking, street sweeping and the removal of several fly-tips, in response to residents’ feedback.
In response to reports of anti-social behaviour and other community safety issues in the Winchester Road area of Sandy, officers carried patrols and door knocks to engage with residents to understand their issues and concerns; with an aim to provide early intervention, prevention, and engagement about a range of community safety issues.
We held an information stall in the Jenkins Pavillion throughout the day to talk to residents, and officers shared crime prevention advice and information about how to report a range of community safety issues and asked them to fill in the Safer Central Survey.
Our Ward Councillors and Councillors from Sandy Town Council also held a resident surgery following the Day of Action.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service promoted its free Safe And Well Checks whilst Bedfordshire Police Officers, spoke to residents about crime prevention.
