Date Added: 28/06/2021
Get vaccinated this week at a walk-in centre
Anyone aged 18 and over can walk into vaccination centres across Central Bedfordshire this week without the need for an appointment – making it even easier to get protected against COVID-19.
Drop in sessions for Pfizer Vaccinations Only
Anyone over 18 can have their first vaccination by using one of the local NHS walk-in centres to get their jab. No appointment needed.
The second dose can only be given to those who have waited a minimum of eight weeks from their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Pfizer Walk-Ins
• Dunstable Watling Centre - 9am to 5pm every day until Sunday
• Biggleswade Hospital - 8am to 4pm every day until Sunday
Drop in sessions for AstraZeneca Vaccinations Only
Please note: the first dose of AstraZeneca is for over 40s only. The second dose can only be given to those who have waited a minimum of eight weeks from their first dose of AstraZeneca.
AstraZeneca Walk-ins
• Flitwick, Rufus Centre - 8.30am to 5.45pm this Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
There are more walk-ins for Pfizer and AstraZeneca available in Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes - see the local NHS website for times.
If you already have a booked appointment at a vaccination centre, GP-led site or pharmacy you should still attend your appointment as planned.
Or book an appointment at a centre near you
Everyone over 18 can book through the national booking line for an appointment at a vaccination centre. To arrange your vaccination appointment:
• You can use the online National Booking Service – http://www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination
• You can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.
You can get an appointment at large centres including Shefford, Flitwick and Biggleswade through the national booking service or go to a local GP-led vaccination centre by booking through your GP.
Which test should I use if I think I might have COVID-19?
If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you must get a PCR test by ordering online or calling 119. You and your household must isolate immediately. Help to isolate is available - visit our website to find out more.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 are:
• a high temperature
• a new, continuous cough
• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
If you do not have one of the common symptoms, but still think you may have COVID-19 you may book a PCR test. Sometimes people with COVID-19 have other symptoms (for example a headache, tiredness or muscle aches), or no symptoms at all. You can book a test by selecting “I’ve been told to get a test by my local council, health protection team or healthcare professional”. You do not need to isolate unless you have been told to do so (for example as a close contact of a case).
Do not use a rapid LFD test if you have COVID-19 symptoms
If you have symptoms or think you may have COVID-19 you must not use a rapid LFD test. Rapid tests are less accurate than PCR tests and may not correctly detect COVID-19 infection.
