Christmas bin collections and council services

Date Added: 16/12/2020

Changes to waste collection days over Christmas and the New Year
These changes come into force between Saturday, 19 December and Saturday, 9 January inclusive.

As you'll know, we don't normally collect on a Saturday, aside from this time of year. And, in the week leading up to Christmas, collection days are earlier than your scheduled day. For example, collections for Monday, 21 December will be on Saturday, 19 December. Make sure you check your collection days on our website.

Tidy tip opening hours
Sites are open Monday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm except for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve when they open from 9am to 1pm. They’re closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

You must book to visit the tip
Booking slots may show as available to book on the days mentioned above, however, you will not be able to proceed with your booking, if it is a time the tidy tip is closed over Christmas.

Only those who can evidence that they have secured a booking will be able to access the site.

We are opening new slots on a daily basis, 10 days in advance.

Customer service centres are closed
Our customer services centres all remain closed. This includes our main offices at Watling House, Dunstable and Priory House in Chicksands. Libraries with customer services also remain closed. If you need help, information, support or advice please use this website.

If you cannot self-serve online, we'll provide a service telephone number. Please do not call in to see us as visitors are currently only being accepted by appointment only.

School term dates
The majority of schools will finish on Friday, 18 December and go back on Monday, 5 January.

School term dates can vary slightly between schools, e.g. for teacher training days at the start or end of a school term. The school should advise you in advance of any changes to their school term dates. If you are in any doubt, please contact the school directly.
