Central Bedfordshire Libraries Service Update
Date Added: 10/09/2021
Changes to library loan periods and charges
From Monday 6th September we will be discontinuing automatic renewals and re-introducing:
• 3 week loan periods (please be aware that you will be responsible for ensuring that your items are renewed and kept up to date)
• standard loan limits and account limits
• hire charges for DVDs and Spoken Word books
• overdue item charges (fines)
Charges have not been applied during the lockdown period and any charges on customer accounts that were incurred after 23 January 2020 have been cleared, but charges prior to this date will remain on your library account and you will be responsible for paying these charges.
For more information about loan limits, loan periods and charges see our Virtual Library.
Reservation charges will not be re-instated at this time and you can continue to reserve items for free.
Renewing your books
You can avoid overdue charges by renewing your loans before they are due back, there are several ways this can be done:
• Contact your local library and a member of staff will renew your items for you
• Using our Library App - search the Android or Apple store for 'Bedfordshire Libraries' to install the app. Tap on my account to log in and renew your loans.
• Online using Arena, the library catalogue - view and renew your loans using your library card and PIN.
• On the Self-Service kiosks in libraries - scan your library card to view items on loan and select the ones that you wish to renew or select renew all.
We are happy to help and answer any questions you may have - please contact your local library or visit us on the Virtual Library.
