Central Bedfordshire Council: Top tips for having a safe and great summer

Date Added: 12/08/2021

We want to help you have a healthy, safe and great time during the (hopefully) warmer months: a proper feel-good summer.

After a challenging year, we know the summer months - with the holidays, days/nights out and festivals they bring - can’t come soon enough.

But be careful you don’t overdo it when it comes to drinking and taking drugs.  We want to help you look back on this summer fondly and without regret.

Ease yourself back in
Watch the video to discover how to protect your body and mind this summer.

How to stay safe at festivals & parties
Last time you partied hard it was probably 2019 (pesky pandemic!). Make sure you ease yourself back in and follow these top festival safety tips.

How to avoid a hazy summer
Warmer days and nights make for thirsty work… and potentially many more hangovers. Avoid a summer of regret, take it slow and low - and check out these tips for avoiding a hazy session.

What happens when you drink too much?
Drinking too much can not only blur your vision, it can also blur your judgement and make you take unnecessary risks. Find out what can happen when you drink to much.

Drugs: Stay informed and know the risks
When it comes to drugs there are no risk-free options. But if you choose to take them, stay informed and know the risks.

Support is available
The best way to keep safe this summer is to be informed and get help when needed. These services can do just that (inform and support) and they wont judge:
• Drink aware
• The Mix
• Festival Safe
• The Loop
• FRANK
• P2R - treatment service for adults in Bedfordshire areas
• Aquarius - treatment service for young people in Bedfordshire areas
