Bess Adult Learning Update

Date Added: 20/08/2020

The start of a new academic year

Helping you with learning in the community and one-to-one support into work.

As the country starts to emerge from lockdown, Further Education training providers, as with schools, are expected to start opening their doors to classroom learning again. Since March, BESS has been restricted to delivering its courses online and whilst we successfully managed to support many of our residents in that way, we realise that option will not have suited everyone.

We are, therefore, assessing venues around Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough (taking account of Covid-19 safety guidelines), to put a curriculum in place that will meet the learning and skills needs of residents. It will be possible to access the wide range of workshops and courses via a number of different ways; online, distance based and classroom. They will include support in finding employment or changing jobs and career progression, improving IT and digital skills, using the internet and social media and help with health and wellbeing. If you need support with home schooling you may be interested in our new  'Helping Children with Learning' programme.

For help finding a course that meets your needs, provide your details online and an adviser will be in touch with individual support with your next steps.

Help finding a course

English, maths, IT and ESOL courses enrolling now
Our community based, small group, adult learning provision has maths, English, IT and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) awards and Functional Skills qualifications from entry level to Level 2 starting soon with induction sessions from Tuesday 1st September.

We are also introducing a 'Helping Children with Learning' programme for parents and carers to support their children's learning and for those thinking about or already working with children to build skills in supporting their English, maths and IT learning.

Our flexible, tutor supported courses include online learning (that can be fast tracked if needed), distance based approaches using video calling and small group classroom based sessions.

To get started with learning, provide your details online then one of our team will be in touch to get you started.

Alternatively you can email us at [email protected] or call 0300 300 8110.
